About Austin Zoo
Located on the southwest edge of Austin, Texas, Austin Zoo draws visitors from around the world to learn about the rescued animals and spend quality time outdoors in the Texas Hill Country. The mission of Austin Zoo is to assist animals in need through rescue, rehabilitation and education. There are currently over 300 animals at Austin Zoo, representing more than 100 different species. The animal collection includes animals from other facilities that are being retired due to age, health or other issues; animals that were seized in animal cruelty cases; retired laboratory research animals; and individuals’ exotic pets they needed to rehome due to changes in the owner’s lifestyle or the inability to provide appropriate care for these pets.

Regular Hours (February 1 – October 31)
Open daily from 9:30am – 6:00pm (No one is admitted after 5:00pm)
Please Note: Austin Zoo closes early the 2nd Saturday of May every year for our annual Austin Zoo Revue and Grand Gala, and on October 28, 2018 for a private event. No one will be admitted after 4pm with the Zoo closing at 5pm.

Open daily from 9:30am – 5:30pm (No one is admitted after 4:30pm)
Closed Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day
